Businessman Holding Paper Graph Over The Increasing House Miniature

Aside from Canadian buyers, there has been a significant increase from international buyers investing in Florida real estate.

Investors from countries that have seen a significant increase are:

  • Latin America: Investors from Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil have increased immensely over the past several years, particularly from Columbia.
  • Stable Central American Countries: There has also been an increase of buyers from several Central American countries such as Honduras, Costa Rica, and Panama.
  • European Nations: Citizens from the UK, Germany, France, and Spain continue to show interest in the Florida market.

Despite recent economic uncertainties in the UK and challenges presented for foreign investment from China, there is good news. An uptick in activity from Asian countries like South Korea, the Philippines, Vietnam, and India has been observed. For example, Jacksonville has the largest Filipino community in Florida and one of the largest Filipino communities in the United States. The Philippines is one of the United States oldest Asian partners and allies. Since 1951, the two countries have formed a mutual defense treaty. Many Filipinos served in the U.S Navy during World War 2 and the creation of the large Naval Air Station in Jacksonville create opportunities for Filipinos to work and live in the area. The wave of Filipino immigration to the area soared even more since the 1970’s. Similarly, the Tampa region has attracted many investors from South Korea who appreciate the business and investment opportunities that is rapidly growing in the city. According to the latest available data, due to its international appeal, the city of Miami continues to be the top destination for European investors particularly from Germany, France and the U.K.
