According to U.S. News and World reports, the state of Florida possesses 11 out of the top 25 fastest growing US cities with 3 of them being in the Tampa area. The list uses net migration data from the US Census Bureau from 2021 – 2022. It also uses criteria such as median age, median home prices, household income and population stats where it found that Tampa, Sarasota and Lakeland all made the list.
A little more about these three places:
Tampa: The city of Tampa has been a leader in growth on the west coast over the last few years. Its reputation has grown as a great place to do business, and its entertainment scene is rapidly expanding. Tampa has developed a thriving business culture marked by innovation and a healthy startup environment. Tampa has all the big city amenities as well as being close to the beach. Part of the cities entertainment package includes the excitement around the success of its professional sports teams like the Tampa Bay Rays, the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa ranked 13th on the list with a net migration of 3.5% and a population of over 500,000.
Sarasota: Ranking at #11 on the list was the belle of the Tampa area, Sarasota. Everyone loves Sarasota with miles of white crystal sand beaches ( amongst the best in the world ), a vibrant arts scene and a growing food and drink culture. Sarasota had a migration rate of 3.9% and has a population of just over 82,000 people.
Lakeland: Known as a family – friendly small town, Lakeland made it on the list in the 8th spot. Lakeland is the most populous city in Polk county and can easily be mistaken for a resort with its many golf clubs, natural parks and numerous lakes. Its nickname is ‘ Swan City ‘ due to its large swan population, all of which are descendants of two swans given to Lakelands by Queen Elizabeth 11 in 1957.
Conveniently located between Orlando and Tampa and with a net migration of 3.19% and a population of over 163,000, Lakeland ranks # 8 on the list of the 25 fastest growing cities in the U.S.A.
